Export & Import

Bulk Trading. Global Reach.

Container-based import and export solutions designed around your business needs, from sourcing market to destination port.

What we handle

Two desks, two directions

Ahmed Trading Company trades in both directions. What the work involves is not the same each way, so here is what each desk takes on — and where it stops.

Export desk

Goods leaving India

For buyers abroad sourcing Indian-origin commodities.

  • Sourcing from established growing belts and processors.
  • Grading, drying and sorting against your written specification.
  • Packing in your bag weight, with your marks and numbers.
  • Stuffing supervised at the loading point.
  • Export documentation prepared to match the consignment.
  • Booking with the line and shipment on the agreed routing.

Yours to arrange: Import clearance, duties and any licensing at your end.

Import desk

Goods arriving into India

For suppliers abroad, and for Indian buyers sourcing overseas.

  • Identifying supply in the sourcing market for a stated requirement.
  • Agreeing grade, quantity and price against your specification.
  • Confirming terms and the shipment window in writing.
  • Coordinating the booking and following the container in transit.
  • Collecting and checking the documents the consignment travels on.
  • Clearance and delivery arrangements at the Indian port.

Yours to arrange: Export formalities and loading in the country of origin.

Routing

Load port to discharge port

Every lane is worked in both directions. Routing is confirmed at booking — direct where a service exists, transhipped where it does not.

Shipping reference

Containers and trade terms

Which container suits a consignment depends on whether it runs out of weight or out of space first. Dense goods fill a 20' long before they fill a 40'.

Container reference

TypeVolumePayloadTypically used for
20' GP≈ 33 m³≈ 28 tDense cargo — pulses, rice, metals
40' GP≈ 67 m³≈ 26 tBulky cargo — arecanut, light spices
40' HC≈ 76 m³≈ 26 tVolume-limited cargo, palletised loads
40' Reefer≈ 59 m³≈ 25 tTemperature-controlled produce

Nominal industry figures shown for planning only. Usable payload varies by shipping line, route and destination road limits, and is confirmed per booking.

Trade terms we quote on

FOB

Free On Board

Risk transfers once goods are loaded on the vessel at the origin port.

CFR

Cost and Freight

Ahmed Trading Company arranges and pays the sea freight to the named destination port.

CIF

Cost, Insurance and Freight

As CFR, with marine insurance arranged to the agreed cover.

EXW

Ex Works

Buyer collects from the named origin point and handles onward carriage.

The term that applies to an order is stated on the quotation and the contract. Where a buyer needs a term not listed here, ask and we will confirm whether we can work to it.

Documentation

What travels with the container

Export paperwork is prepared to reflect the consignment that actually loads. Requirements vary by commodity and destination, so the second list is agreed order by order.

With every shipment

Prepared as standard on all consignments.

Commercial invoice

Value, terms and parties, matching the contract.

Packing list

Bag count, net and gross weight, marks and numbers.

Bill of lading

Issued by the line once the container is on board.

Certificate of origin

Country of origin, for duty and customs treatment.

Where required

Depending on the commodity, the destination and the buyer's instructions.

Phytosanitary certificate

Plant-based commodities, where the destination requires it.

Fumigation certificate

Where fumigation is required by the destination or the buyer.

Quality / inspection certificate

Third-party inspection where the buyer nominates an agency.

Marine insurance certificate

Where cover is arranged under CIF or on buyer instruction.

Import formalities at destination — duties, clearance and any licensing — remain the buyer's responsibility. We will supply whatever documentation is needed to support them.
